Biography

Dr. French is Director of the hESC/iPSC core facility in the Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She received her Ph.D. in Immunology from Rush University in Chicago, IL, and did a post-doctoral fellowship in Immunology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. Before coming to CHOP, Dr. French was a faculty member at SUNY Stony Brook in Stony Brook, NY, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. Her research areas include B-cell development and somatic hypermutation megakaryocytes and platelets, and integrin adhesion receptors. Her area of expertise includes platelet adhesion receptors where she performed structure/function studies using the bleeding disorder Glanzmann thrombasthenia as a model. These studies led to her current area of research to generate a renewable source of megakaryocyte progenitors and/or platelets for therapeutic purposes.
